Stenger Embraces 505 World Championship

The 2017 SAP 505 World Championship will begin in the USA from 20th to 29th September in Annapolis Maryland.

There will be over 100 boats that would represent several nations to take part in the 62nd edition. Angela Stenger from Germany would be among the fleet along with her crew member Nicola Birkner. Stenger took part in the Pre-Worlds for the first time in the year 1997 in Denmark. That was the event that made Stenger passionate about 505 World Championships. Since then she has competed in every race except San Francisco. She has rendered services to the race management in 2000 and served the International Jury in 2012.

Stenger would be the only woman team in the fleet traveling to Worlds in a usual manner. The objective is not only towards final outcomes, but also to fight and scare other fleet. It is indeed an honor when crews approach Stenger after the race to appreciate her efforts and performance. It makes her feel good and motivated to show better performance in the upcoming competitions

Stenger feels that the one design class race is way beyond the race course and has more benefits. The great moments are when you get an opportunity to reunite with all your friends across the world during the arrival at Worlds. She is blessed to have numerous friends from several countries like the United States, South Africa, Australia, Finland and many more. It is a great feeling to meet them while racing in addition to doing other interesting activities like skiing or simply hanging out together.

It is a proud moment when you see women taking part in Worlds as it’s quite a challenging race. There is scope of new attributes as participants can go around the world sailing which is definitely a challenging and competitive task.
